ABOUT CUSCO, PERU

Known as the “navel of the world” or as the capital of the Inca Empire, the city of Cusco, Peru, brings in its cultural baggage much more than beautiful landscapes and stories from ancient civilizations. 

The torn eyes and well-defined traits of its population of about 430,000 people show a reality that few can see. 

The needy people of the region count on the help of volunteers to maintain a better quality of life and to reinforce education and interest in the culture of other countries. 

Yes! The Cultural Heritage of Humanity – title given by UNESCO in 1983 – is the scene of more intense and thoughtful natural beauty than ever imagined.

PROJECT DETAILS

In this program, you will make a positive impact and help each individual to grow, gain skills and work towards independence. Volunteers help in a school or orphanage for kids with different abilities. These institutions host kids and youth mentally handicapped and deaf. These students are aged from three to twenty-five years old and their levels of intelligence are varied and range from severely mentally handicapped, limited to a small learning disability, to normal intelligence, only deaf.

The school is divided by sections being, kindergarten, primary, division multiple complex, deaf school, and practical training. While the orphanage is divided by small groups depending on their needs. The number of children per classroom varies from 6 to 15 and teachers do not have assistants or helpers in the class. There is a room for physiotherapy and volunteers with experience on it help a lot. There are 40 at the orphanage.

All programs attract a Registration Fee of US$ 197 on top of the Program Fee (partially refundable until 60 days before your program start date*). 

OTHER INFORMATION

Schedule

You will volunteer 5 days per week (Monday – Friday) from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
You will have the weekends off, so you can explore the city.

What is included in the Program Fee?

  • Accomodation

  • 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch & dinner) are provided Monday through Friday.

Caring specific children in class

Teaching short indoor games 

Requeriments

The minimum period for volunteering is 1 weeks.

Age Requirement: minimum 18 years old. volunteers who are under 18 years old are still

able to join our program if they provide us with a consent letter from their parents.

 Language:Basic Spanish Level

Payment

Deposit A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking once your application form has been accepted. The remaining 50% of your payment is due 1 month prior to your arrival. Banking details will be provided upon confirmation of your application. 

Changing

Changing Projects: If you wish to change projects in the same location (for example, if you were confirmed on an education project but then decide to join a caregiving project), you can do so as long as you are more than 30 days prior to departure and the new project has space for you. If the volunteer is confirmed for the new project, there will be a US$50 change fee.

 Changing Dates: If you want to change dates once you have been confirmed on your placement, you can do so as long as you are more than 30 days prior to departure and the new project has space for you on your new dates. If the volunteer is confirmed for the new project, there will be a US $25 change fee.

Cancellation  Policy 

If the volunteer needs to cancel or shorten their trip between 30 and 1 days prior to departure, there will be no refund of fees for any reason.
