Advantages of volunteering abroad

Volunteer work has becoming more popular nowadays. When you are a volunteer abroad, you fully experience the culture of the country. You have a chance to learn a new language, have more adventurous than traveling for tourism, and contribute for social changes in many lives. In this post, I write about the advantages of volunteer abroad.

1 – You will live like a local person.

When you are a volunteer abroad, you live with local family as a consequence you fully experience the Culture. When we traveling for tourism, we eat in restaurants .We order what we think It’s local food or food we know, for example pasta and hamburger. Differently of hotel food, when you are in a local family, you will explore the country’s culinary. They may not even know what it is an hamburger.

2 – You will learn a new language.

When you are volunteer in a remote area, you will not find people who speaks English easily as a consequence, you will need to learn their language. When I was a volunteer in Iquitos, a city in the Peruvian amazon. I met just 3 people who spoke English, for this reason I was studying a lot Spanish to communicate with local.

3 – You will have amazing adventurous

You will have unforgettable experiences. When I was in Iquitos, I’ve seen crocodiles, snacks, birds in their natural habit. It was so amazing, I even went boating in the amazon river with local fishers.

4 – You will inspire people

Inspiring people was the most gratifying part of my volunteer. When you are a volunteer, people are super thankful and happy for you being there. If you are volunteer as an English teacher, you will help so many kids to learn a new language, you will inspire them. My students wanted to talk with me, but my Spanish was very bad when I arrived in Peru. So they did an extra effort to learn English to speak with me.
